These spooky white chocolate witch finger pretzel rods are quick, easy, and ridiculously fun to make. They’re the perfect Halloween treat that looks impressive but requires minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard bag pretzel rods (about 1216 rods)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or almond bark
  • Green gel food coloring
  • ΒΌ cup sliced almonds
  • Red sanding sugar or red sprinkles (optional, for a bloody look)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Workspace: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Melt the White Chocolate: Place white chocolate melting wafers or chopped almond bark into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until completely smooth and glossy (about 1.5 to 2 minutes total).
  3. Add the Green Color: Add a tiny dab of green gel food coloring using a toothpick. Stir thoroughly. Add more if needed until you get a nice, swampy witch green.
  4. Dip the Pretzels: Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted green chocolate, submerging about three-quarters of the way. Lift it out and let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Give it a gentle tap on the side of the bowl.
  5. Place on Baking Sheet: Lay the coated pretzel rod onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels. Work quickly as the chocolate will start to set.
  6. Add the Fingernail: While the chocolate is still wet, gently press a sliced almond onto the tip of the pretzel rod with the pointed end facing outward.
  7. Create the Knuckles (Optional): Use a toothpick or the tip of a small knife to gently drag lines across the chocolate about an inch from the tip to create knuckle joints.
  8. Add the ‘Bloody’ Details (Optional): Sprinkle a tiny pinch of red sanding sugar at the base of the almond fingernail for a gruesome effect.
  9. Set the Chocolate: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm and set.
  10. Serve and Scare: Arrange the witch finger pretzel rods on a platter and serve.

Notes

Don’t overheat the white chocolate as it can seize. Work in batches to prevent the chocolate from thickening. Use a deep bowl for easier dipping. Let the pretzels set completely in the fridge before serving. For best results, use gel food coloring instead of liquid to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
