A quick and easy boozy cherry limeade slushie perfect for summer parties, combining tart lime, sweet cherries, and a splash of tequila or vodka for a refreshing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh pitted cherries or frozen (no sugar added)
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice (from 23 medium limes)
  • 1/4 cup sugar or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup tequila or vodka (120 ml)
  • 3 cups ice cubes (about 24 ounces or 680 grams)
  • 1/2 cup sparkling water (120 ml), added just before serving
  • Optional garnish: lime wheels, fresh cherries, or mint sprigs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherries: If using fresh cherries, pit and rinse them. For frozen, allow to thaw slightly for easier blending. (5 minutes)
  2. Juice the limes: Roll each lime on the counter to loosen the juice, then cut and squeeze until you have about 1/3 cup (80 ml). Watch out for seeds! (3 minutes)
  3. Combine ingredients: In your blender, add cherries, lime juice, sugar or simple syrup, and your chosen spirit (tequila or vodka). Blend on medium speed until the cherries break down but still retain some texture, about 20-30 seconds. (2 minutes)
  4. Add ice: Pour in the ice cubes and blend on high until the mixture reaches a slushie consistency, roughly 45 seconds to 1 minute. Stop and stir if needed, scraping down the sides for even blending. The texture should be icy yet smooth, not watery or chunky. (5 minutes)
  5. Serve immediately: Pour into glasses, top with sparkling water for fizz, and garnish with lime wheels or fresh cherries. Enjoy right away before the ice melts! (2 minutes)

Notes

If the slushie is too thick, add a splash more sparkling water and pulse a few seconds. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again. Chill glasses beforehand for a frosty vibe. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the liquor and add extra sparkling water or cherry juice. Sugar amount can be adjusted based on cherry sweetness and personal taste.
