A quick and easy dessert featuring thinly sliced apples drizzled with warm peanut butter, sprinkled with chocolate chips, and finished with crunchy toppings. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s a healthy-ish treat that feels both virtuous and indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala recommended)
  • 1/3 cup (80g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) maple syrup or honey
  • 1/4 cup (45g) dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (15g) chopped peanuts or almonds
  • 1 pinch sea salt (flaky, like Maldon)
  • Optional toppings: shredded coconut, raisins, dried cranberries, mini chocolate chips, crushed pretzels, or melted white chocolate

Instructions

  1. Make the peanut butter drizzle: In a small saucepan over low heat (or microwave-safe bowl in 15-second bursts), combine peanut butter, coconut oil, and maple syrup. Stir constantly until smooth and warm, about 1-2 minutes on stove or 30-45 seconds in microwave. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the apples: Wash and dry apples. Leave skin on. Cut each apple in half through stem, then cut each half into thin slices about 1/4-inch thick. Remove seeds or core pieces as you go.
  3. Arrange the apple slices: Lay slices in a single layer on a serving platter, slightly overlapping if needed. Fan them out in a circular pattern for best presentation.
  4. Drizzle the peanut butter mixture: Using a spoon or small squeeze bottle, drizzle warm peanut butter mixture evenly over apple slices.
  5. Add the chocolate chips: Sprinkle dark chocolate chips evenly over drizzled apples. The warmth will soften them slightly.
  6. Finish with toppings: Sprinkle chopped nuts, a pinch of sea salt, and any other desired toppings over everything.
  7. Serve immediately: Enjoy while apples are crisp and drizzle is still warm.

Notes

For best results, use firm, crisp apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji. Warm the drizzle gently to avoid burning peanut butter. Don’t skip the sea saltβ€”it balances sweetness. Slice apples right before serving to prevent browning. If drizzle thickens, add a splash of warm water or coconut oil. For a peanut butter lover, double the drizzle recipe.
