Easy Spider Web Guacamole - featured image

A festive and stress-free Halloween dip featuring creamy guacamole topped with a spooky black sour cream spider web design. It’s quick to make, uses simple ingredients, and is perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large ripe Hass avocados
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
  • 1 medium Roma tomato, diced and seeded
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
  • A few drops black gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and scoop flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add lime juice immediately to prevent browning, then mash avocados with a fork until creamy but still chunky.
  3. Stir in red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, cumin, salt, and tomato. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  4. In a small separate bowl, mix sour cream with black gel food coloring until uniform dark grey or black.
  5. Spoon guacamole into a serving bowl and smooth the top to create a flat surface.
  6. Fill a squeeze bottle with the black sour cream and drizzle outward in concentric circles starting from the center.
  7. Use a toothpick or fork tip to drag lines from the outer edge of the sour cream toward the center to create the web pattern.
  8. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning if making ahead. Chill sour cream for 15 minutes before mixing to ensure it holds its shape. Do not freeze this recipe as the sour cream will separate.
