These Easy Mummy Hot Dogs with Crescent Dough Wraps are a quick, fun, and adorable dinner or party snack that comes together in just 20 minutes. Made with simple ingredients like hot dogs and crescent dough, they are perfect for Halloween, weeknights, or any time you need a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-sized hot dogs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Ketchup, extra mustard, or ranch dressing (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. Do not separate the triangles. Press the seams together gently to create one large rectangle of dough.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips about ΒΌ inch wide. You should get roughly 20 to 24 strips.
  4. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, starting at one end and working your way to the other. Leave a small gap near the top for the eyes. Overlap the dough slightly as you go. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs and dough strips, using about 2 to 3 strips per hot dog.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water until smooth. Brush the tops of each wrapped hot dog with the egg wash (optional but recommended for a golden finish).
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2 to 3 minutes. Dip a toothpick into the mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy.
  9. Serve immediately with ketchup, extra mustard, or ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Do not over-wrap; 2-3 strips per hot dog is plenty. Leave space for the eyes. Watch the oven closely as crescent dough burns quickly. For make-ahead, bake without egg wash, cool, and reheat at 350Β°F for 5 minutes before serving. Add mustard eyes after reheating.
