A quick, budget-friendly recipe for making 10 peanut butter sandwiches perfect for group meals, school events, or last-minute gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 slices of sandwich bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 1/4 cups creamy peanut butter
  • Optional: 1/2 cup jelly or jam (grape or strawberry)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine (softened, optional)
  • Wax paper or parchment sheets (for wrapping sandwiches individually)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by clearing a large, clean surface and laying out wax paper sheets if wrapping sandwiches individually.
  2. Warm the peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 15-20 seconds to soften for easier spreading (optional but recommended).
  3. Lay out 20 slices of bread in two rows on your surface for easy assembly.
  4. Spread about 1 tablespoon (15 g) of peanut butter evenly on one side of each slice.
  5. Spread about 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of jelly or jam on 10 of the slices that will become sandwich tops (optional).
  6. Assemble sandwiches by placing the jelly-topped slices peanut butter side down onto the peanut butter-only slices. Press gently to hold together.
  7. Cut each sandwich diagonally or into halves using a serrated knife.
  8. Wrap sandwiches individually with wax paper or place in sandwich bags if storing for later, or serve immediately.

Notes

Warm peanut butter slightly for easier spreading. Use a sturdy bread to prevent sogginess. Spread a thin layer of butter on bread before peanut butter to act as a moisture barrier. Wrap sandwiches individually if making ahead to keep fresh. Assemble no more than a couple hours before serving for best texture.
