These easy baked pumpkin donuts with maple glaze are tender, spiced, and ready in about 30 minutes. Made with simple pantry ingredients, they’re perfect for fall mornings, brunch, or any time you crave a taste of autumn.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup milk (any kind)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray your donut pan generously with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into each donut cavity, filling them about ¾ full.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. The donuts are done when they spring back lightly when touched and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  8. While the donuts are cooling, make the maple glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and maple syrup. Add milk one tablespoon at a time until you reach a thick but pourable consistency.
  9. Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the tops into the glaze or drizzle it over them with a spoon. Let the excess drip off, then place them back on the cooling rack. The glaze will set in about 10-15 minutes.
  10. Serve and enjoy. These are best eaten the same day.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter to avoid dense donuts. Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Let donuts cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from sliding off. For a dairy-free version, use melted coconut oil or vegetable oil instead of butter and almond milk or oat milk. For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free baking flour blend.
