A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough to look like mummies. Perfect for parties and quick to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular or mini hot dogs (all-beef preferred, but turkey or veggie dogs work too)
  • 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 4 cheese slices (optional, cut in half for smaller mummies)
  • Mustard or ketchup for serving
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds for eyes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and pinch the perforations together to create one large sheet.
  3. Cut the dough into thin strips approximately 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) wide using a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
  4. Optional: Place half a cheese slice on each hot dog.
  5. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving small gaps to mimic mummy bandages. Overlap strips slightly but do not cover the entire hot dog.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs on a parchment-lined baking sheet with space between each.
  7. Brush each mummy lightly with egg wash.
  8. Add eyes by pressing two black sesame or poppy seeds near the top of each mummy.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crescent roll dough is golden and crispy. Check after 10 minutes to avoid over-browning.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

If dough stretches too much while wrapping, chill in the fridge for 5 minutes before baking. Use egg wash generously for a golden, shiny finish. Mini hot dogs bake faster (8-10 minutes). Avoid microwaving leftovers to keep crispiness.
