A quick, 15-minute improvised dessert featuring pretzel sticks as spider legs, dipped in semi-sweet chocolate and topped with cookie dough balls and candy eyes. Perfect for Halloween or last-minute parties.

Ingredients

  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate chips)
  • Sturdy pretzel sticks (long rods)
  • Store-bought cookie dough (chocolate chip, peanut butter, or snickerdoodle)
  • Sprinkles (jimmies work best)
  • Small black candy eyes
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place candy eyes and sprinkles in small bowls nearby.
  2. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.
  3. Break pretzel sticks into 3-inch pieces; you need four pieces per spider.
  4. Dip one end of each pretzel stick into the melted chocolate, let excess drip off, and place on the parchment paper to create legs.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, place a small ball of cookie dough on top of the chocolate-covered end of the pretzels and press gently to stick.
  6. Slightly flatten the cookie dough ball to resemble a spider abdomen.
  7. Add candy eyes and sprinkles to the cookie dough while the chocolate is tacky.
  8. Chill the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set the chocolate.
  9. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Bake the chilled cookies for 10-12 minutes until the dough is golden brown.
  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure pretzels are sturdy to hold the weight of the cookie. Do not skip the chilling step as it prevents the cookies from falling apart. If chocolate hardens too fast, reheat briefly. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days; do not refrigerate as moisture makes pretzels soggy.
