A simple, 3-ingredient slow cooker appetizer featuring tender shredded chicken, creamy buffalo sauce, and soft slider buns. Perfect for game day or easy weeknight hosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 bottle (approx. 12-16 oz) Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce
  • 1 block (8 oz) full-fat cream cheese, cubed and at room temperature
  • 12–15 Hawaiian rolls or potato slider buns
  • Optional: Blue cheese dressing and celery sticks for serving

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of a 4-quart slow cooker.
  2. Pour the entire bottle of buffalo sauce over the chicken, ensuring it is well-coated.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until chicken is tender and easily shreds.
  4. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred into bite-sized pieces using two forks or a hand mixer.
  5. Add cubed cream cheese to the remaining sauce in the slow cooker. Stir over low heat or microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  6. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat evenly in the creamy sauce.
  7. Let the mixture sit on low for 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to meld and sauce to thicken.
  8. Slice slider buns in half horizontally. Optionally toast cut sides under a broiler for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Assemble sliders by spooning generous amounts of chicken onto the bottom buns and topping with the other half.
  10. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

If using frozen chicken, add an extra 30-60 minutes to cooking time. For a milder version, mix buffalo sauce with ranch or blue cheese dressing. Toasting the buns prevents them from becoming soggy. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months (do not freeze buns).
