A festive DIY coffee bar setup featuring dark roast coffee, mocha syrup, and peppermint toppings, designed to create a warm, interactive holiday experience for guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8–10 cups strong dark roast coffee
  • Hot water (for dilution)
  • Half-and-half or heavy cream
  • Whole milk (or oat/almond milk for dairy-free)
  • Mocha syrup (store-bought or homemade: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup cocoa powder)
  • Peppermint extract
  • Crushed candy canes
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Brew a strong batch of dark roast coffee (8-10 cups) and pour into a thermal carafe to keep hot.
  2. Prepare mocha syrup by combining sugar, water, and cocoa powder in a saucepan, heating until dissolved, then cooling and storing in a squeeze bottle.
  3. Crush candy canes in a zip-top bag using a rolling pin until they have a textured crunch.
  4. Set up the station by laying out a tablecloth or tray, placing the coffee carafe in the center.
  5. Arrange milk, cream, and syrups on one side of the station.
  6. Place toppings like whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and crushed candy canes on the other side.
  7. Add garnishes such as cinnamon sticks in a jar and mini marshmallows in a bowl.
  8. Ensure all bottles are filled, labeled, and coffee is hot before serving.

Notes

Serve coffee hot but not boiling to avoid bitterness. Label all ingredients clearly for guests. The station can be set up the night before, but brew coffee fresh in the morning. Leftover coffee can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
