A simple, comforting slow cooker recipe using just honey, garlic, and chicken breasts that delivers tender, flavorful chicken with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup honey (85 grams)
  • 3 large garlic cloves, minced

Instructions

  1. Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup honey with the minced garlic. Stir until well blended.
  3. Arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  4. Drizzle the honey-garlic mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, coating each piece.
  5. Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on LOW for 3.5 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.
  6. Check for doneness by cutting into the thickest piece; internal temperature should be 165°F (74°C). If needed, cook an additional 15-30 minutes.
  7. Use tongs to transfer the chicken to plates and spoon extra sauce from the crockpot over the top before serving.

Notes

Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Pat chicken dry to help sauce stick better. Avoid opening the lid during cooking to maintain heat. For thicker sauce, remove chicken and simmer sauce on stove for 5 minutes. Frozen chicken breasts require about 30 extra minutes cooking time. Bone-in chicken thighs can be used but require longer cooking (4-5 hours).
